Meet the Bands

Lena Meyer has loved music for as long as she can remember, growing up playing the piano and the French horn. In 2007, she graduated magna cum laude from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a major in Instrumental Music Education. During her time in Flagstaff, Lena played in many different groups, including 2nd horn with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, Ms. Meyer started her teaching career in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she taught middle and elementary school for three years. In 2010, she accepted the job as the band director at North Tahoe Middle School in Tahoe City, California. In 2013, Ms. Meyer began playing the trombone with Tahoe local gypsy-swing band Sneaky Creatures. She holds an M.A. in Music from the American Band College (2012) and has been an active member of both the Arizona and the California Music Educator’s Associations. When Ms. Meyer is not teaching, she enjoys the sun and the snow, cooking, reading, planting flowers, and playing her instruments.
